Sensors and devices

My chest strap won't connect

Wet the contacts and put the strap on: most straps sleep until they feel a heartbeat. Then go to Train → Heart rate from → Pair a device. Zone 2 Base connects only to the strap you've pinned, so other people's straps at the gym won't interfere. If it still doesn't show, make sure it isn't connected to another app or your watch at the same time.

How do I use my Garmin watch?

Your Garmin can send live heart rate to Zone 2 Base over Bluetooth, just like a chest strap. There are two ways:

Just broadcast (Zone 2 Base records the workout): on the watch, scroll to the Heart Rate widget, hold UP (Menu), choose Heart Rate Options → Broadcast Heart Rate and press START. In Zone 2 Base, go to Train → Heart rate from → Pair a device and pick your watch. Press STOP on the watch when you're done.

Broadcast while the watch records too: in the same menu, turn on Broadcast During Activity, then start an activity on the watch as usual. Heart rate is sent in the background, and saving the activity stops it. If Garmin Connect shares workouts with Apple Health, Zone 2 Base still counts each session once.

Menu names vary slightly between models (Forerunner, Fenix, Venu, Instinct). If you can't find it, search your watch's manual for "Broadcast Heart Rate". Full guide: Garmin + iPhone.

The Apple Watch app doesn't start the workout

Open Zone 2 Base on the watch once so it can finish setup, and check that Health permissions are allowed for both iPhone and Watch in iOS Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices.

The app closed during a workout

Open it again and tap Recover. Your heart rate readings up to that point are kept.

Zones, plan and ring

My Zone 2 feels too easy or too hard

Go to Settings → Heart rate zones. You can switch method (% of max, heart rate reserve, threshold, MAF 180 or manual) or set your numbers by hand. Pro users also get the personal Zone 2 check, which suggests a new ceiling after long, easy sessions.

Why does my plan wording look simpler than in the screenshots?

The AI-written plan uses Apple Intelligence, which needs a supported iPhone with Apple Intelligence turned on in iOS Settings. On other iPhones, the plan has the same sessions and numbers with simpler wording.

A workout from another app didn't count

Only workouts with heart rate data count. Check the workout in the Health app has heart rate samples, and that Zone 2 Base has read access to Workouts and Heart Rate.

My widget looks out of date

It refreshes when a new workout lands in Health. Make sure Background App Refresh is on for Zone 2 Base in iOS Settings → General → Background App Refresh.

Pro and your data

How do I cancel Pro?

iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Zone 2 Base → Cancel. You keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for.

I bought Pro but it's not unlocked

Open the Pro screen and tap Restore purchases, signed in with the same Apple ID you bought with.

How do I get a refund?

Purchases are handled by Apple, so refunds are requested at reportaproblem.apple.com.

How do I delete my data?

Settings → Delete all app data removes everything Zone 2 Base stores. There's no account and nothing on our servers to delete. Workouts saved to Apple Health stay in Health, where you can delete them yourself.
